S-36 factoid - she was in commission circa 1923-1942.
USS S-36 (SS-141) was the second United States submarine lost in the Second World War. She grounded on Taka Bakang Reef in the Makassar Strait, west of the Southern Celebes, on 20JAN 42. Fortunately, there was no loss of life; she was abandoned and destroyed. She'll be making no more homeport calls, having been on her Eternal Patrol now for 63+ years. Toll the Bell..........
