USS WAHOO (SS-238) The Search for USS Wahoo (SS-238), USS Bowfin Submarine Museum and Park, Honolulu, HI - a .pdf file detailing "proof" of the find. COB (LINKS) remains sceptical. |
USS GRUNION (SS-16) a search party funded by the eldest son of skipper Mannert L. "Jim" Abele had promising side-scanning sonar imagery that may be the remains of USS GRUNION (SS-238) deep (over 2000 feet) in frigid Alaskan waters. This is emails from the search party back to the land base party - COB (LINKS).
|
USS GRUNION (SS-16) now the search for GRUNION may have a little more meat to it. There just weren't that many submarines lost in that area. Again, time will tell - COB (LINKS). Ralph Ranalli, The Boston Globe, August 17, 2006.
