X-1 Awards/Recognition -

X-1 factoid - she was the U.S. Navy's only commissioned Midget Submarine. Originally powered by a hydrogen peroxide/diesel engine and battery system, an explosion of her hydrogen peroxide supply on 20 May 1957 resulted in X-1's modification to conventional diesel-electric drive.
